Hi
I have a problem with my radiators, they have all been bled but now downstairs one not heating, I think they all need balanced and re-bled. Can anyone recommend someone to do this and give me an approx cost, thanks. (Newtownabbey area).

Is quite easy to do if you are at all DIY minded.
When your heating starts up check what rads heat first, will usually be the ones closest to your boiler.
1) turn of all the rads at the lockshield side ( the side opposite where you normally turn them of/on at, you will need a small shifting spanner or pliers for these)
2) starting with the rads that heat up first, open there lockshield valve up by no more than one 1/2 turn.
3) move along all the rads from first to heat up to last to heat up, each time you come to a rad open its lockshield by one 1/4 of a turn more.
4) switch your system of and allow to cool, on restarting it you should see all rads heat up at roughly the same rate, if one or more is heating a bit faster then throttle it down a bit by closing of its lockshield valve, if you notice one or more very slow to heat then open there lockshield valves up a bit more, repeat these steps untill they are all heating at the same rate.
Clockwise turns should shut the valves of and anti clockwise will open them. If your rad that is giving you trouble is still cold then there maybe a small airlock within its piping which will mean removing the rad or trying to force the air out by turning up your pump. Hope that helps.Norn Iron Club member No 3530 -
