    Queenie...what a great idea :)

One of my daughters is 13 and she went out for the evening to a nightclub that was opened for 13-17 year olds (run by the police finishing at 9.00 pm before the adult session).
She came home with a bag full of "grown up goodies" and she sat for ages reading them so I'm sure that a box llike that would go down well.
There must be lots of freebies on the internet that you could gather...waxing strips, lipsticks, leaflets, perfumes etc.

A couple of things that went down well with mine (at 11/12 rather than 13 but they are still being enjoyed) were an ice-cream maker (a proper one - not a toy) and a hammock.

I posted in the OS Daily the boy appropriate books/fillers which I included in my son's last month plus a couple of the other bits I'd put in there:- http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=2241648#post2241648

Great idea Queenie, I do similar ones when people I know are having a baby. Collecting bits and pieces as I go along.

Have you thought of makeover/hairday/beauty treatments, I know as a teen I would have loved to spend the day with my Mum being girly and pampered. And the makeup, if you ask around some bodyshop/boots stores will do it free. If you shop around won't cost a fortune, I know we have a local college who teach hair and bauty and do treatments cheap.
One day I might be more organised...........
