Not a single penny? Are you giving them money as originally planned as well? Are they still together? Working?

So you've been exploited by your own child?

Did you have a verbal agreement on the tenancy or did you set up the arrangements more formally, with an AST?
  • NO! That's truly appalling. Why haven't you received any rent? Are they claiming LHA or was it declined? Are either of them working?
  • Nope they have not claimed any benefit
  • So, you've been stiffed by your own flesh and blood?

Sorry, but I think that it's time they stood on their own two feet. Two long years is ample time. Why don't you consider evicting them?

    Thanks all
We have decided to get the pair of them in a rented place first while mife and I consult a mortgage consultant about our ideas

It's worth bearing in mind a mortgage consultant will think it a very good idea to get a mortgage - maybe see your accountant instead?

Edit, sorry I see this is a very old thread!
