Hi All,
feeling very down and fed up tonight, I have just got back from my Gp again - i have a collection of symptoms and she is just giving me pain killers and anti depressants. any advice welcome i have
chronic back pain - told years ago its sciatica
pins and needles in my hands and feet
numbness in my upper leg and its goes hot, cold and tingly
my joints ache - elbows, hips, knees and neck
doesnt matter how much sleep i get - i often wake up exhausted
my expartner used tocomplain about my restless legs - that started about a year ago
i have just had a busy weekend and today was so exhausted i didnt get up til 4pm
brain fog - im at college and not matter how hard i try i just cant get the stuff in my head (may just be my age though) i often forget stuff too - ts like thinking in cotton wool sometimes
I dont get all of this all the time, although the last 4 weeks i have had most if not all and the today had the lot
I have good days and bad days and im at the point of thinking it must all be in my head..any tips or advice would be brill.
my GP is lovely but i feel like i just list stuff to her and i go away with more pain killers and a exercise sheet for a trapped nerve...:o:confused:
just had a row with my son, who has stormed off, i feel so useless, tired and i hurt everywhere - feel very alone tonight

Have you heard of the condition Fibromyalgia? It sounds very similar.
However, it's incredibly difficult to get doctors to diagnose it. You have to see a rheumatologist, but it's not an easy process. I've had all the above symptoms for 11 years and they still won't diagnose me."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -
Hiya,
thank you for replying
I have heard of it, but dont know much about it - im seeing her again on Monday for my monthly meds review - I will mention it and see what she says - i suppose i have nothing to loose
thinking back i have flt unwell for years but never as bad as this, i had a car accident nearly 2 years ago and i have got worse since then - before that i hardly ever went to see my GP0 -
Fibro or ME are possibilities.

Accidents and traumas often start a lot of stuff like this. It definitely would be worth bringing it up to your GP - even without a diagnosis some are willing to try medication for it, such as amitriptyline or Lyrica which may help."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0

have you had any blood tests to rule out fm or r. arthritis.
Have yu been to see a specialist, if not ask your gp if you can be referred to one.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Is it also worth changing your GP? Prehaps you could ask around if any friends or family could recommend one who is prehaps more receptive or proactive. One life.0

I was going to suggest that also. Is there another doctor you could go to this week in the same surgery.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I have a regular appointment with her on Monday, im going to talk about if i dont get any further i can see another doctor, she is really supportive. I havent told her all my symptoms like the resltess legs etc - i just put it down to my anti depressants.
I think writing it all down so i can go through it will help me be clear about it.
thanks again for not dismissing me.
one thing i read was the pain can appear when you use a muscle group lots, ive recently started training to be a holistic therapist and have spent the last 3 months massaging so using my arms and upper body a lot. which may account for the appearance of symptoms in my arms and back.
i suppose the positive is that i get massages so that can ease it a bit, I have spent alot of time reading tonight and with or without a diagnosis there are things i can do to try and help myself, so will try to do that aswell as push for help from my GP0 -
You need to see a rhumatologist and a pain specialist to help with your diagnosis and your pain, your GP can refer you to both.
Your symptoms can be many things, so elimination is the way to go and a bettery of tests, blood, scans and examinations will help to diagnose you.
