    Lodging, as opposed to tenancies, tends to be less formally managed. Essentially, lodgers (or excluded occupiers) have fewer rights and the landlords that do it are taking in lodgers for the company or to keep their housing costs down, rather than being experienced hard-nosed professional landlords who need to many extra things to protect themselves and who are subject to extra legislation.

    You are not responsible for drawing up the inventory, the landlord is. Many that have lodgers don't do this and if they do, it's restricted to the room since its impossible to do across common areas that are shared by multiple people when one is on a single, individual agreement rather than a joint tenancy.

    So I wouldn't fret about its absence.

    Regardless of what the LL does or doesn't choose to do, it makes things far easier in the long run if a T/lodger creates their own record. Many "try it on" LLs will back down from their claims on a deposit when a T/lodger presents them with their own dated evidence of condition from the start of the Agreement. Olly300's post is a good suggestion.
