It was doing the rounds here (Liverpool) before half term, as most of my daughter's nursery had it. Fortunately both mine have had it. Though did find a homepathic tablet called Rhus Tox,(litte tiny white pills) really good at drying the spots up, DD's spots only lasted 3 days max. - They also work on cold sores, coz it's the same virus.0

We have it in Pembrokeshire too!! My eldest is in reception class and came up in spots this morning. My 1 yr old had spots for less than 24 hrs last weekend so that seems to be his lot. My 7mth old is clear so far.....0

I bet you're glad you got the travel insurance now peakma - didn't you ask if it was worth it or not if you were 'only' going to family?
Hope the itching goes soon and that you can re-arrange the trip ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Pregnant ladies upto 5 months are also vulnerable so v thoughtless of someone to take a child with chicken pox to playgroup.
The person who ran the playgroup here brought along her ds when she knew he'd been exposed to her other ds. I didn't know this bit of info until my elder ds came out in chicken pox spots the day after we'd flown to UK, so I unwittingly exposed everyone on 2 aeroplanes, not to mention my 5 week old ds catching it from his bro.
Glad you were covered OP, better than losing the whole amount.
Chicken Pox always seems to be around from Easter time, maybe something to do with the weather warming up?0 -
What a shame about your holiday.
My son has just had it too, only it worked in my favour for me. I was stopping at my sisters in Scotland for the school holidays and the day before we were supposed to go (last Saturday) home he came out in the spots. We had to stop up there for an extra 5 days because I refused to take him on the train and expose everyone to it. (onother of my sisters had a heart transplant and was on anti rejection drugs so we as a family are very aware of how dangerous many common illnesses can be to people with compromised immune systems)
Well done for thinking about the other people who would have been on your flight, not everyone would have done that. And I hope the kids aren't too itchy.0 -
Forgive me for saying this but is it necessary to cancel your holiday? When my daughters had it we more or less carried on like normal and the school told me not to let them have any time off even when it was contagious. If he is feeling OK I think it might be OK for you to go.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040
