Is it worth shopping around for a new Fiesta?

Options
I am suprised to be saying this but I really like the new ford fiesta. I thought it was damn too common

I read the forum here and recommendation and that ford fiestas are overpriced so I went around yesterday and looked at the following

Mercedes A170 - I secretly amired it on the road but when I saw it at the garage I hated it completely. The interior just didnt do it. The B series looked better but had a hefty price tag
Mazda 2 - I think for a mom with two kids I would look a bit like I am trying too hard. I thought it was great but maybe for younger people
Honda Jazz - I really like it. It was a bit of suprise and its go so much space going inside. I want quite sure of some of the protruding knobs and stuff on the dashbord
Ford Fiesta - I liked the outside and I really love the cherry colour.... The dashbord felt a bit too much in my face (I am thinking I am getting a little dated having driven micra for over 2 years) but this car is really growing on me. Of all the cars I cant quite get this one out of my heard and I love the PLUM and hubby thinks I am a bit crazy to love such a "hideous" colour.

I have looked at the finance options and after scappage for my car, the 2 cars I really have in mind ie Honda Jazz and Ford Fiesta but the ford finance option trumps the jazz. Here are the details after scrappage and me paying a 500 deposit

Ford fiesta style+ 5 door 1.25 pertol for 12 000mile pa
£8409.00 APR 4.9% and total amount paybale £10 047
24 Payments of £152
Optional Final Payment £5430

Honda Jazz Hatchback 1.2 V Tech SE 5 dr petrol
£9071 APR 11.2% and total amonut payable £11 773
60 Pyments of £193.00

Looking at the above ford fiesta seems really the best option but just wanted to find out if I should shop around at more ford delaers or it will just be the same price? Should I also pay a £500 deposit or not as I was reading somewhere that it is a better option NOT to pay deposit since its a hire puchase with final payment?

Would love to hear how a 1.25 perfoms on the motorway. Not that I will be driving on the motorway a lot but just curious. I currently do around 5000 miles mainly school runs and running errands

You should definitely shop around. It won't be the same price everywhere.

No problems on a motorway, a great little engine. See if you can take one on a test drive to satisfy yourself. Perhaps you can't get to a motorway in a test drive, but you should be able to get on a fast dual carrageway

have you thought about buying a pre registere one, maybe only a few months old. There are literlly thousands to be saved by doing this.

We bought an 09 Corsa last month, had never been sold from new but obviously the reg plate had changed. The car had only 18 miles on the clock and we saved over £2,000.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Can I still use scrappage on pre reg?

Sorry, no, I didnt realise you were using scrappage.
I just skimmed through your op and i premume i must have missed it.

We were just so pleased to have got such bargain that i just had to reply
    straightaway.

Just a thought = Could you have a look at pre-reg without scrappage.

If they are charging you top dollar for a new car with £2k allowance but
if you found a pre=reg say £3k cheaper than the top dollar one then you are £1k up on the deal and sellling your old car privately. Lots of people still like old cars at the right price.
    Maybe worth looking into.

If your looking for a new Fiesta may be worth having a quick look at autobytel.com

There are hundreds of web sites about but this one is owned buy Inchape and the dealer supplying you the car and processing the order will be a Ford main dealer. Once the tel operator has taken your details they tend to pass you over to a salesperson from the dealership.

If nothing else it gives you a very solid starting price to walk into your local dealer with.

They will say (its not a Ford main dealer and they dont have the car, they are just a broker etc etc) With Autobytel none of that is true.
  • OK I am not quite a fiesta owner yet but I am so in love with the car....I have been drooling over the hot magenta but having seen squeeze I cant quite make up my mind....I so love the squeze too but here is the bummer.

I have got quotations using the ford options and I cant seem to justify the additional expense for the above colour BUT I just so love those colours.

Now the dealer hass offering the following deals http://www.haynesford.co.uk/dealer_service.../?newsId=456840

They best offer I got from dealer is a ford style + works out to be £153 for 24 months and optional final payment of £5430....Great I thought exceptv they are offering the colour in SILVER which I think is really boring and doesnt bring out the best of this car.

Now I wont bore you much with the other details but I have been to 2 dealers now and for the colours I want, the best deal I got is for a Zetec and after scrappage it come down to £11 340 and monthy payments of £213.00. No doubt the car is really cool and I so love it but my sense tells me to go for the silver car because of the instalments yet my heart longs for the squuze or magenta....

The car will be mainly to ferry around my 2 kids 18months and the other 9 years and do school runs one. Damn what should I do? My heart tells me somethings and my head tell me something different

Yes the magenta colour is nice but last time I checked it was a £575 option. Is it worth that much?!
  • It may be worth shopping around a bit more to get more of a saving then spending that bit more on your dream colour wouldn't seem so bad! Have you looked at online brokers to get the best prices? you can use these to haggle the best prices in the dealerships.

I am just starting to shop around for a fiesta zetec 1.4 tdci, the best price I have online is 11064.21 which includes metallic paint from drivethedeal.com, I e-mailed about 10 dealerships last night asking them if they can improve on it and have had 2 calls back so far one has quoted £11,800 but has pretty much said they can imrpove on that so I'm going to call in this afternoon and the other has quoted £11,995.

With regards to the colour I think you should go for it and get the one you want (although I hear this may limit the deals you can get slightly) because after spending all that money you want to feel completely happy with it, not thinking "I wish I'd got that other colour". I much prefer the magenta out of the 2, I really don't like squeeze! I want my car in either black or sea grey :)
  • PS, there are a couple of other threads a few pages back about fiesta haggling and prices - some very useful info on them so worth a read!
