Innocent Veg Pots - Homemade Version?

Has anyone made their own version of innocent veg pots? My friends rave about them but I never bought them as they are so expensive however, I found a coupon for £1 off and tesco had them on offer with 50p off so I decided to treat myself. It was scrummy and would be perfect for work now I'm starting 12 hour shifts but as they are so expensive I'd like to do homemade ones instead. ANy help?

I would be really interested in this too - in fact you read my mind! I imagine any risotto/sticky rice recipes for the bottom and any on offer cheap veg boiled for the top??? But I have never had one and you have. I've literally just finished my own home made one, and people at work even commented how it looked like an Innocent veg pot but nicer!
Anyway, mine had:
Fresh spinach at the bottom
Chick peas layer
then filled up with stew made from tomatoes, courgette, swede, potato and carrot with lots of chilli and herbs. You could make it from anything though.
You could put cous cous at the bottom, brown rice...anything you want. As far as I can make out they're decent ready meals in a pot rather than a tray - so the world really is your oyster!0 -
That sounds doable. Is your stew all those ingredients cooked together or do you have a stock or anything? Do you just use a normal lunch box for it, the old non MSE me probably would have bought an innocent pot to refill LOL and then never get round to it....not really momey saving.

Yeah, my stews are just anything I find languishing in the fridge/veg box and a tin of tomatoes! I did put herbs and a stock cube in but you don't have to.
I actually use a tub that once contained cooked cocktail sausages - I think they were from M&S, it was left over at a buffet! Perfect size, almost identical to the Innocent one. Nothing wrong with buying one though, not sure where you'd get a tub that size otherwise.0 -
Well I have always lusted after this little pots but never tried them as they are about £3.50 each!!!!
However they were on offer at Tesco (half price) so I bought a few and my word they are lovely. So fresh and tasty, the veg not muchy and spice flavours are wonderful.
So anyhow I started to try and justify buying them (tasty, healthy, easy etc...) but then I worked out how much they would cost each month:
£70!!!!!!!!!!
So back to reality I came. Now I'm not much of a cook but has anyone had a go at making their own? Any recipes that might give me that veg pot taste!0 -

they are so expensive, i think it would work out cheaper just buying a full size frozen dall, bombay potato etc from the supermarket and just portioning it out yourself0

OP - why not start with cous cous - that's easy to make (pour boiling water over it and stir in some bouillon powder). You could then roast a tray of mixed veg (pumpkin, onion, garlic, pepper, beetroot, swede, pine nuts) and put this on top.
