Shared ownership advice please - very worried

My husband and I are separating and I should come away with about 70k from the equity of our family home. I want to make a home for me and my two children and I am looking into shared ownership. I don't earn very much as I am part-time but I could put a big chunk of the equity into shared ownership. Does anyone have any experience of this? Is it a financial mistake to use equity like this? I really don't want to rent and I can't buy a place with a mortgage. At this stage I am not looking at how much I can make from the property or moving up the ladder. I just want a secure home for my kids.

Any advice really, really appreciated.
