Very interesting stuff about this 80 year cobblers Doozergirl - thanks much for sharing - makes sence - good to know.

I've already got a solicitor, I've spoke to her a little about the lease, - she said that 79 isnt a particuarly short lease, obviously there's always a chance that someone maybe put off by the term, but also commented that not many people know much about lease-law anyway.

I'm currently filling in all the forms for my sol, even though i haven't found a buyer yet, so as soon as I get one, i'm already to go & can hopefully nip the exchange in the bud as soon as possible! (yeah right ;))

    Hi Jackie,

    hope yo'ure still around! :)

I am considering renting out my place to a friend of mine for a year, & meanwhile, extending the lease. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind supplying me the company that carried out the work to get you the price on renewing the lease? (as this work can be done by any conveyencer (sp))?

Or indeed, if anyone out there can recommend a good conveyencer who will do the work for a decent price, I would be very grateful.

    Regards.
    P

PJD - I understand completely your decision. One last question - how do you know you couldn't obtain the information for the same price I did (£49 plus £21 for expedition (ie, getting back to me the same day)). I had the info for the grand total of £70.51 to be exact.

Anyway best of luck with it.

We sold our investment flat last September with a 75-year lease with absolutely no problems whatsoever. We had however put it on at less than the market value because we wanted a quick sale. The people who bought it also wanted it for an investment property and were delighted to get it cheap.

As far as I know, they asked no questions about the lease.

Interesting 7-day - thanks for sharing.

Which part England was that out of interest?
