Have never even in the glory days considered tghrowing wine or booze away. Seems like madness to me. Next day, any left from previous one is very speedily consumed.:beer:0

I find leftover white wine a good de-icer the morning after...the alcohol helps to get rid of the ice with no scraping needed. Red can leave marks on the paintwork:mad:0

Invest in a vacuum pump to get the air out of the bottle and the wine will keep OK for weeks. especially if you put it in the fridge.

Add blackcurrant (Creme de Cassis) or raspberry liqueur to make a kir out of white plonk past its best.0 -
OMG there are so many delicious desserts you can make with Baileys. I have had to buy so much just to deal with the desserts! Mine are from recipe books - but here are a few you can find online - do a search in google:

I have googled recipes for Baileys, but they only ever seem to use a smidge of the stuff! I need recipes which are heavy handed on the booze!
Stick it in brownies. A brownie batter is melted in the pan before being cooked, so you can stick in whatever you want at that stage. Stick in a nice big dollop of Baileys and you will end up with a lovely, gooey, delicious brownie.
If you want to use up a lot, then see if there are any bake sales near you, bake up a batch, and watch the mulah roll in!
Hope this helps0 -
I've got lots of cheap unopened bottles of wine given to me by my Mother - it's years old! Is it still safe to drink/cook with or do I sling it down the sink? Some is red, some is white and some is fizzy stuff.....
Arrrghhh!!!
Any advice gratefully received as I don't want to poison the new boyfriend!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes:0 -
For booze in food - check out Wikpedia under Alcohol in Food. It gives the amount of alcohol left after cooking. It doesn't all go away, so drivers take note.:rotfl:0

Thanks for the Baileys tips - keep 'em coming!! :beer:0

i use leftover white wine or champagne or any sparkling stuff that's gone flat in white sauce. you can 'plonk'
it in and you can make stroganoff style pepper sauce, lasagne bechamel sauce, cheese sauce etc. gives it a nice kick! you can also use it to make cheese fondue with all your odds and ends of cheese from the fridge and a bit of cornflour and you're laughing!

It can depend how it's been stored. If the bottles have proper cork stoppers (not plastic or screwtop) and have been stored upright, chances are that the corks will have dried out and allowed air into the wine, which may make it oxidised and undrinkable. This is why wine cellars store their bottles lying on their sides.0
