Question about Capital One Claim

Hi there, on Friday i sent off my first data protection letter requesting details of the charges i have paid over the last 6 years. A couple of years ago i made a similar claim to natwest and i was very successful, receiving nearly 2k! I dont expect anywhere near that amount with this claim but what i am wondering is how they will make payment to me? In your experience with Capital One (or any other card companies) do they just apply the money to your card balance, send you a cheque for the rest and cancel your card? Or perhaps they just sent you a cheque for the whole amount and allowed you to continue using your card and paying off the balance at your leisure? Can anyone please comment with thier own experiences of the payment method they received when making a credit card claim for unfair charges. Many thanks!

Ive claimed twice now from Cap One and both times has not been a problem. As soon as Ive put the claim in with MCOL theyve paid up plus interest plus court fees.
Both times theyve sent me a cheque for the full amount and no problem continuing using the card.

I just thought id bump up this thread and see if others can share thier experiences as ive now successfully received an offer from Capital One for (most) of the charges i claimed back from them. Ive signed an acceptance form and im just waiting now to receive the money back. Im still a little unsure wether im going to receive a cheque for the full amount or if the money will just be applied to my account? In the offer letter it stated that the money will be applied to arrears and the remainder returned to me via cheque, im a little confused as to what they consider to be arrears? It that any money you owe them or any amounts that are over your card limit? I'm just trying to work out what i should expect to receive via cheque.....0

Arrears is any amount that you are overlimit or behind in payments. They will effectively 'bring the card up to date' for you and will then send you anything left over from the sound of it.
Congratulations on getting your money back.Getting married 02.08.14
