Cashback Declines - Tarting
Options
Hi all,
Did a EDF -> Scottish Power -> Eon -> EDF -> Scottish Power switch
Last one has been declined... Is there any trick for this? theres like 6 months since I was last with scottish power but they've declined the 60 quid cashback after I gave them meter readings.
Could I still switch away from them now? Bit miffed they screwed up my cashback request lol. Could I change gas/elec to my wifes name and then switch her? :P

You'll probably find that there's some fine print somewhere stating its to new customers only - with some form of time restaint most probably 12 months. So they can protect themselves from just this sort of thing.
As for switching unless you have an outstanding balance yes you can switch to and from them (you may have an exit fee depending on yur choice of tarriff). With regards to applying in your partners name it might or might not work depeneidng on how intelligent the systems and operatives are at Scottishpower.0 -
It would depend on the terms of the cashback site.
e.g. topcashback state:CashBack: This offer is not applicable to existing customers or to any members who have recently applied for cashback with Scottish Power and has a pending application. If an existing customer or member who has recently submitted an application applies more than once, then the application will be cancelled and no cash back will be authorised
You would need to have asked them to define how long "recently" actually is."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

Lots of us constant switchers out there including myself  have never had a decline even though we often re-switch as soon as we receive the cashback, sometimes as soon as it goes to confirmed/validated status.0 -
Well it is excellent news that Utility Companies are taking steps to negate cashback.
Whilst no blame can be attached to those who can be bothered take advantage of this loophole, the costs are passed to alll of the rest of us in higher prices.
I think the growing practice of a penalty for leaving within 12 months goes some way to stopping 'tarts', and there should be other methods devised to stamp it out altogether.0
