Hi there, wanted to ask you if eBay is your main source of income or you also have a job?*_*_* Department of Redundancy Department *_*_*0 -
Personally, I'd take the item to Trading Standards and ask them to alert the manufacturer.
I know you may lose your money but it would prevent anyone else being ripped off it the article isn't genuine.0 -
lol wut? she's not a seller she's a buyer. What are you planning on spamming the forums with?

If it was a "Fantastically Fervent MoneySaving Super Fan" asking the same question I am sure I'd get a different reaction...
no spamming, just curious...*_*_* Department of Redundancy Department *_*_*0 -
Just thought it was a bit of a random thing to say, and we often get new posters posting random things to up their post count before bombarding with spam.0

I think you should contact ebay by email and tell them exactly the situation, maybe get yr hairdressers to write a letter with contact details and attach with the letter and explain to ebay that you dont want to send back in case the seller sells to another buyer.
Obviously to get back some refund would be good for you but to stop this seller selling it on would be good too.
The receipt could be for another bottle like you said.

If you have a specific question regarding trading on ebay then a new thread might get you more results.

Hi there, wanted to ask you if eBay is your main source of income or you also have a job?
er ebay doesn't give me any income because I don't sell on there
and yes I have a full time job???
Anyway, back to the question in hand!
I have taken the item to my hairdresser this morning who use tigi products and she has confirmed it is a fake, when compared with an original product, the print on the bottle is a slightly different size and the flammable sign on the back of the bottle is also a different shade, and they do have a completely different smell. She is prepared to write a letter to confirm this.
So what now? the seller emailed me yesterday and was very nice, stating she had purchased this stock from a bankrupt salon.
Should I email the seller explaining my findings and ebays policy on returning fake goods and see what she says? I should imagine though that she won't take my word for it (and I don't blame her, why should she?) and I guess then I would have to open a dispute and warn her of this? can anyone advise?Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -
Have just checked my emails and the seller has refunded me!, I hadn't even asked for a refund, she has sent a message saying she is going to advertise the next batch as 'ex salon stock' as the quality is not A1 and has thanked me for bringing it to her attention.
I'm just going to destroy the bottle now and want to leave positive feedback as I do get the impression that this poor seller has been done over on this too (unless I am completely naive!), any suggestions what I should put?Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -

I would suspect she knew she was selling dodgy stock but as she has given you a refund (had you stated it to be a 'fake' you would have had the devils own job getting the money back off eBay without proof from the manufacturer) I'd leave her positive feedback, stating that the item was not as stated but you have been given a full refund - which would be honest and fair. That's what I did when I got stuffed by a dodgy seller. There are lot's of them on eBay, the sensible one's refund to avoid negatives. eBay's policy on dealing with fake goods is bad - they require proof that many manufacturers are not prepared to give (Tiffany jewellery for eg. now have a policy of not identifying fraudulent copies) - best always to start a paypal chargeback as the item is significantly not as described. You get your money back which you deserve and you don't waste months and endless money trying to chase a claim for fake goods.0
