Kwik Fit Exhaust Guarantee?

Hi guys
Last night whilst driving home I got a nice loud banging noise and thought oh sh*t the bloody exhaust has gone.
However upon closer inspection it was just one of the rubbers holding the rear box up and I thought a quick trip to Kwik Fit (who fitted the original one 2 years ago would solve things).
Anyway they replaced the two rubbers for free but he said there was a crack on the middle part of the exhaust and that it would start blowing soon.
Anyway perhaps I'm imagining things but I'm sure when I bought the exhaust they had a thing that they would replace the system FREE if anything went wrong whilst you were the owner of the vehicle (similar to their brakes thing) as this was the reason I didn't get a replacement from Ford (plus the cost of course).
Then the guy quoted me £60 even though I paid £27 for the same part two years ago. So I rang another branch asked them how long the guarantee's were for and he said it came with a 2 year guarantee (i'm outside it by 2 weeks) and that new ones now include a 3 year guarantee.
Does anyone else remember this or can provide any links where I can get this information?
I don't really want to spend out as I'm looking to sell/part ex my car in the next few weeks anyway.
Thanks

oh yeah they also reckon I need two new rear tyres and my tracking done - total quote like £220

Looking at the guarantee card (receipt wallet) that I got when my brakes were done, under exhausts it states '2 years unlimited mileage warranty'. Can scan and send you a copy of the card if you want - PM me if you want it.0

Cheers m8y but if that's defo the rules then I'm !!!!!!ed coz I got it fitted on 20/5/2004
I think they might be trying it on as although it looked like a small crack it was just going the rust colour so might not have been and there was defo no blowing coming from it.
If anyone else has any different info please let me know.0 -
If you have to pay for it out of your own pocket find an independent tyre and exhaust centre to do it. Chances are you will recieve better service and a better price. Ask around and see if anybody can recommend one.
ps. You can also take your car somewhere else for a second opinion and they will check it out for free and then you will at least know if Kwik Fit are trying it on or not.0 -

Thanks for the advice m8.
To be honest I need one tyre no probs but the other stuff seems a bit steep and the exhaust cost me £27 for the middle bit two years ago and the same part number is now £59 !!!!
plus I'm looking to Part/Ex the car as well............0 -
If it cracks, smear some exhaust paste over it as a temporary fix. Most garages won't check it over that closely if your part exchanging it anyway.0

Is it around the seam between two parts? Could just be the weld discolouring with the heat (exhaust gas is hot) rather than actual rust? The backbox on my brand new car started going brown/gold colour after about a month of driving but it was the heat rather than rust causing it.
I wouldn't worry unless it starts blowing, just get it traded in quick.0
