Website shop/shopping carts? any recommendations?

Hi there, my mum runs her own wedding flower business from home and has her own website. She normally sells on eBay, but with the increasing fees is now looking to get her own shopping cart.

Most of the shopping carts require money in advance or contracts so she would love to know of anyone whos used any before, what the costs are like and how simple they are to add to a website etc etc

can anyone help? thanks!

The easiest way to get a shopping cart on a website is to use Paypal/Google Checkout/Nochex buttons. These are simply a few lines of code that you put on the appropriate web page, or next to the image, that will host and operate a shopping cart on paypals servers.

The disadvantage I've found with this though is that international postage can be a bit messy, but obviously only if that is something your mum offers!

If she has a paypal business account already (rather than a premier), more details are on the Merchant Services tab, and under the Website Payments Standard - https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_merchant&nav=3

  • thats fantastic advice!!! she already has a business account on paypal, and we now have a working shop!! thanks a lot!

only few items on it at the mo, as the html can be a bit fiddly getting used to, but working all the same - thanks VERY much!!

Good idea to go for a web site but be aware that it is not an instant solution. You will need to work to optimise the site so that customers will find it via a search engine. Nobody finds you - nobody buys.

You will still pay Paypal fees of course with the buttons as in post no 2. I would keep Ebay sales running as well while your site gets going.
