Car windows opened by themselves
Hi
Can anyone help?
I parked my car earlier (ford focus) at the cinema and locked it using the remote key fob, upon returning to my car two hours later i found all four windows fully open.
Thankfully it wasn't raining and nothing was taken by passers by, but it is slightly unnerveing as don't want it to happen again and not be so lucky next time.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
I have also had this happen with at least 3 completely different makes of car over the last 6-7 years, but I have never worked out why it happens, so you're not alone!!!Profit=sanity

Yeah I think accidentally pressing the remote control button is a common cause for this.0

I'm not God but here's how I use the features:
I use it to open the windows on the car on the drive whilst I'm inside the house a few minutes before getting into the car. Saves you from having to get into an oven!
I use the close feature whist walking away from the car when I've parked it if any passengers have opened windows during the journey. It means I don't have to check to see which windows are open and sit around fiddling with the controls closing them. I've also found it useful when I've got out of the car and realised that I forgot to close the window.0 -
Was this on friday the 13th ?0

It's called global opening. It allows the driver to open all windows remotely on a hot day to allow the hot air to escape before entering the vehicle.
In reverse, it obviously closes all windows avoiding inadvertently leaving one open when leaving the vehicle."Now to trolling as a concept. .... I was driving along yesterday when all my Mini windows started opening and shutting all by themselves. Then the sunroof opened. As I closed one window, another would open. It was very spooky, so I turned around and went home. Later on in the evening, I locked my car up as usual, just pressing the lock button once and in the morning all the windows were open again. I went to the car, closed all the windows, locked it up and two hours later, they were all open again. I've now hidden my key in a drawer to see if that's sending signals to the car, to rule out the remote. Other than that, I believe it might be the ECU0

Its not a fault its a feature.
Premier is right - called global opening I think it was put into the electric loom with the view to using it on a convertable version but that never came out until years later.
press the unlock button on your key fob and keep it pressed for 3 secs and all windows open. to shut press the lock key for 3 secs.1
