If it's a one off then they won't mind paying her for it then will they?!
If I were you I'd go sick. Either that or tell them you're a vegetarian and have a wheat allergy. Then you could faint on the bus because of nothing to eat and bump your head, causing major stress.
This sounds like what an old employer would do to me. Show them a bit of enthusiasm (an inch) and they'll take you for whatever you can get (a mile).
Simply REFUSE to step on the bus without having their word that you will get paid for this hour. You are completely in the right by feeling aggreived.Success and failure is determined by effort.0 -

no they actually said that they cant cater for special dietry requirements
so anyone with those will have to bring their own lunch anyway !0 -

i meant that they're classing the 45 mins we're travelling back on the coach as our dinner hour0 -

On that basis you're travelling one way in their time and one way in yours- sounds a reasonable compromise to me. I can't really see that you can consider yourself to be working when sitting on a coach!0 -
you getting paid to sit on a coach for an hour and a half so you cant really complainReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0

That doesn't make sense!0 -

Oh yes she can! How else can you think any different? If I were to travel on a bus for an hour for the sake of my employer, then I'd want to get paid for it. She hasn't asked to sit on a bus.
Eg: If you were to go to a training day which required 3 hours of travel in the morning until 11am, training until 5pm, and the normal working day was 8-5, would you expect not to get paid for the return journey 5-8pm? Your employer did after all pay for you sitting on a bus 8-11am after all!
What nonsense!:rotfl:Success and failure is determined by effort.0 -

Yes it does, it makes perfect sense. He maybe could have said "you're not IN your own time." Does that make it any clearer?
Are you trying to be a pillock? Why would anyone do anything that an employer requests if they are not getting paid to do it? Whether it be sitting on a bus or doing arduous labour?Success and failure is determined by effort.0
