My right to repair or exchange??

I purchased a sequenced evening dress about 10 days ago to wear to a ball. It cost £333, I also paid £60 to have the hem taken up in the same shop, I paid with my debit card. I wore the dress and it had caught about 3 times, resulting in pieces of thread around my ankles and a lot of the sequences had fallen off. I was expecting the dress to last longer than a few hours, I had simple sandals on with no buckles etc..... I would be glad to hear what my rights are before I take the dress back to the shop....

Sequences? Do you mean sequins?
If your dress caught on something, I can't see that the shop would be at fault. Can you elaborate on how/ why the dress 'caught'?Gone ... or have I?0 -
you caught it, caught it on what.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
To be honest this is one reason why I don't like dresses with sequins.
I have a two piece outfit where there is only sequins on the bodice and some of them came off the first time I wore it.2014 Target;

Oops yes, sequins, I only walked so I have no idea what the dress could have caught on!!!!! I obviously didn't feel it catching, I'm only assuming that is what happened???? I'm guessing it may have been the heel of my sandal, although it was altered above the sandal0 -

So basically you paid a lot of money for a dress for one occasion and would now like a refund as the event has been and gone.
If you caught the dress and damaged it, why on earth should the shop give you a refund. Its not faulty, its accidental damage.0 -

The OP hasn't mentioned anything about a refund.
They asked about a repair or exchange.
OP, I'd take it back and explain what has happened, and that you feel for the price that it would last longer than one night out and see if they will repair it for you.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

Thank you very much, I just wanted an opinion. I have never had an expensive dress before so obviously was hugely disappointed, anyway cheers, I will do what you suggested0 -

Sorry Tarzanschic, you'll get laughed at if you take the dress back. The shop are not at fault for you catching the dress on your sandals!Gone ... or have I?0
