Hello..
I have one of these beasties...
http://www.dewalt.co.uk/powertools/productdetails/catno/D25404K/
It is all but brand new and i have only used it a couple of times.
Every time i use it in hammer drill mode using larger diameter sds type masonry drills,i find that i can hardly make progress becuase the protective clutch keeps slipping. I feel it is way too sensitive as i dont perceive that the drill bit has jammed. It just holds me up and makes progress slow. It is an excellent piece of kit but for this. Is this normal or could it be faulty? Is it adjustable in some way?

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Your 1st mistake im afraid was to buy De-walt...In the past few years they have spent too much time developing clothing rather than their tools.......(just my opinion).
That said, are you trying to use a bigger diameter SDS bit than its maximum recommended???...
It can depend on the spec of the material your trying to drill too: Weak mix of concrete compared to a hard mix with rio in.....As far as Im aware the clutch isnt adjustable........
I would send it back and get a Makita ,Matabo or Hilti...0 -
In my experience the clutch slips just before your wrist breaks. Sounds like yours needs to go back for repair0

No,the SDS bit is within spec...in fact, when i am hammer drilling,if the clutch slips and i continue to apply even relatively mild pressure,i can feel the static drill bit being hammered through..!! so no complaints on the force of the hammer,,id just like it to rotate at the same time. Its actually about three years old but has only been used a couple of times with the result stated..i just thought it was designed to be too safe !Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry).
