I know there is a 16 week time limit for the new car to be delivered, but what happens if you get to week 16 and the car is still not delvered?

I don't think you can buy a new car without signing an order.

Yes, if the car is not delivered within 4 calendar months then you lose out on the scappage discount. Having spoken to Department for Business Innovation and Skills this is not negotiable however the dealership will be fined £250 for failure to deliver - big deal and the customer gets diddly squat.

What you need to do is to cancel the order with the dealer and generate the order again. Clearly the dealer doesn't cancel the car but the clock starts again. The problem with this is that your MOT and/or Tax may have expired. You will need to get the car re-MOT'd and I'd really push hard that the dealership pick up the cost for this and any repairs.

    Good luck!

Make sure there is a long stop on it ... (with terms if appropriate/acceptable)
