I got an email from Sports Direct offering womens trainers at £30 with a discount code (usually £60) so I ordered some.
I was asked for my card details before reaching the checkout page, and the price was still showing as £60. I assumed I would be asked for the code before the order was finalised as I've done this with other companies previously. I couldn't see anything asking for the code and realised I had actually been charged the full £60 when a confirmation of order came up with my card details asterisked out, just the first four numbers showing.
I closed the page then checked the order process again, and found a box on the far left of the order page, as far as possible from the pricing details, saying "Vouchers". Presumably I should've put the discount code there.
I emailed the customer sevice department immediately asking for the code to be credited to my order and explaining what I'd done. They ignored me.
I now hear that they are very prone to ignoring customers and getting any kind of response from them is almost impossible. So when the trainers arrive, I'll just send them back and get a refund, but I could do without the hassle!
I know it's my own fault for not realising where the code should've gone, but Sports Direct could at least respond to my email.
Just be careful when buying from Sports Direct, unless you're happy to be ignored if you have a problem!
