oth back door and front door are wood not double glazed - have got a porch front door and both have draft excluders -
but ohhh ! its so cold and the wind whips round your legs in the kitchen and hall !
Would it be cost effective to change them both for double glazed proper fitted ones ( the ones were you close them you can feel them being sealed) or to get new decent draft excluders the stuff on my doors now is a bit of rubber about a cm high .
The back door only had a bit of glass on the top and i would probably go for something similar as i dont want anyone looking in (thinking of dark scary nights when i am in the kitchen alone and someone lurking about outside:eek:)
Seen some sites on the internet but they look a bit fancy and too much choice just something simple, cheap but good quality would suit.
Any help much appreciated

A good quality DG fitted door will definitely make some difference, especially if your wooden ones are a bit worn and need replacing anyway.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Personally I would never have a upvc door.
When I replaced my back door with another solid wood the draughts stopped as it was allined properly. I am going to have the front door rehung and replace the door fittings.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

Dad was a joiner and even though he is very old would be able to help with realligning if i told him what i needed ( he could do the directing)
The only thing is the door does not seem to be catching anywhere so im not sure how there would not still be a space somewhere for drafts to come through - it it comes through the bottom and you moved it down wouldnt it come though the top ?
You can tell i dont know much about this sort of thing please explain
What sort or replacement door furniture did you get ?
Did you use draft excluder ?0 -
I take the point about wooden doors and they do have their place but wood is a living material (or was) and it changes with the weather,i.e expands, shrinks, warps etc whereas a DG upvc door with frame is a precisely engineered product and if made and fitted expertly, should give years of troublefree service and air/watertight fitment.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry).
