Trying to get refund for unauthorised transaction

Options
Hi all, if any one can offer me some advice on this, I would be grateful.

I was a member of an online social networking site and didn't renew my membership recently because I moved 300 miles away and can no longer attend any of the social events the site offers in any part of the country. The site renewed my membership, however, stating that it is renewed automatically. I can't find any evidence of this, and they are "unable to give a refund". The transaction was charged to my credit card, and the credit card company say that they cannot help. Is there any way I can get my money back?

Thanks in advance, Jen :-)

Wirte and ask for evidence that you agreed to this automatic renewal.
    See how it goes then.

How much was it, if unver £100 you wouldnt be covered under a section 75.

Social events aside, would it still not be nice to keep in touch with your friends
especially since yu are so far away
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Hi McKneff

Thanks for your post, I'll try writing to them. The fee was £50, I know this doesn't sound a lot but I'm trying really hard to clear my credit cards. The friends I have made I'm in touch with on facebook now, so I only really used the site for organised social events.

    Good luck.

    so section 75 wouldnt work.

£50 is £50 and it's your £50. These auto renewal things really annoy me.
the rely on peoples memory to fail them and so forget or dont realise they are in one.
If you dont get your money back dont forget to cancel if for the next year. lol.

    regards

  • Hi Annie,

Thanks for your reply, I think I'll just have to learn my lesson from this one!
