Desparete parents need advice!

Hi All

My mum and dad moved to Prestyn in Wales 3 years ago to follow a dream. The found it wasn't what they wanted and are now trying to move back to Yorkshire. The bungalow is up for sale and not moving, they have benn on the market for just about a year. They have had a dribble of people round, tried different estate agents and tried dropping the asking price. The place was done up, it looks great but now they are getting desp. They are considering selling to one of these "we buy any house" places - However I am afraid they will get ripped off - does anyone have experience with these places? Or have any other ideas on how to sell? They have not done the private sale route as they are stuck in their ways and are very nervous about it all and I am just too far away to be able to co-ordinate it!

Any help would be great
Thanks

  • There are good and not so good 'we buy any house' style companies.
However, they all have one thing in common, which is they will offer you only between 50 - 85% of the true value of the property.

If they can afford to loose this sort of amount on the deal, then it may be an option. I wouldn't recommend it mind!

A house is worth what someone is willing to pay; I know you've said that they have dropped the price, but maybe they will need to keep doing this if they want to sell quickly.

And those schemes; no experience with them, but you definitely wouldn't get market value for the house
  • Thanks - clearly they dont want to lose too much money, but they have already come down from circa 185k to 160k due to est agents advice and to them, that is a heck of a lot of money! So not sure how they would feel getting a lot less. Are there any recommendations for home swap websites?
