peeps, you're all trying to do the same thing- help the op with her questions, it's good that you have different ideas to throw in so that the op can see it from different angels.

Thanks very much, I am still here and reading avidly I'm just only checking this thread when hubby isn't around. I am starting to think that telling him would allow him to enjoy the anticipation but also think a surprise would be lovely and tbh hes not really organsation! Not sure really. I'm thinking now that we will rent a villa and mainly do the parks for the 2 weeks, I'd like somewhere that has a pool so we can relax when not at the parks. Can you visit the everglades for a day or so by driving or is it too far to go for a day? damn hes just come back in,got to go will post later tHANKS

Ok back again, was not hubby the dog has just let herself in! I think we will have to have some sort of day to day plan otherwise I'm sure wel'l end up going home having missed stuff , would people recommend booking it all through a travel agent or booking the flights, villa etc seperately? tHANKS AGAIN, ADVICE IS ALL HELPFUL
  • Package holiday or DIY trip? That's a difficult one to answer really. Package holidays to Florida usually sell out very fast, especially over peak periods. Usually they are the costlier option but the benefit is that you can book and pay a deposit whilst saving up for the balance payment. You also get the peace of mind of having a Rep in Orlando should you experience any difficulties. Booking it all separately will mean you'll have to have money readily available to pay for the flights in full at the time of booking but you will have the greatest flexibility to get the flights/car and accommodation you want.

If you are considering a villa then you'd be better off booking independently so that you know the exact villa location. Some Tour Operators are a bit vague about villa locations (giving a number of areas they could be based at). There are loads of villa websites.

Google VRBO (vacation rentals by owner) or Windsor Hills rent for a taste of what's on offer.

Read up as much as you can. I think I have already recommended "The Brits Guide to Orlando" and Disboards (online forum) as they are extremely helpful.
