bumper to bumper incident question

A week or so ago my husband had a bumper to bumper incident with another car. There was no apparent damage. The other car driver got irate and insisted my husband give him his insurance details which my husband duly did. My husband could not get the details of the other driver, not even the licence plate number.
If he makes a claim (he said there was a scratch on his car) does the fact that my husband gave out his insurance details mean they will automatically find in his favour? My husband is of the opinion that he has nothing to hide and giving his details is not acceptance of guilt.
Are we now likely to get a claim against us and if so, are we likely to lose because my husband gave out his details but didn't get the other drivers?
Thanks

It sounds like there will be a claim but only time will tell. I would be inclined to inform your insurance company as all accidents should be reported. But give full details of the alleged incident together with the reasons for not obtaining the other parties reg no and address etc"If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

If your husband went into the back of him then it will probably go against him. If this is the case and you have reason to believe it was a scam (no brake lights for example) then inform the insurance company of this. Likewise if your husband was rammed from the rear it will go against the other person.0

Well was there any damage or not?
If your husband didn't take the time to check how can he dispute the other parties story?:rolleyes:Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

It's at that point I would have called for the police to attend.
It isn't. He was probably legally obligated to provide them by the sounds of it, ... as was the other driver who didn'taquariangrrl wrote: »My husband is of the opinion that he has nothing to hide and giving his details is not acceptance of guilt."Now to trolling as a concept. .... This happened when my husband was parking. He slightly bumped into this guys bumper as often happens when you are parking.
My husband said there was definitely nothing that he could see and he inspected the car. The guy thought there was a "scratch" and apparently said he'd take it to his garage to see if it needed painting over.
My husband is a) not from this country and b) naive. He was also a little scared of this guy and thought that giving him the details would calm him down. He believed that giving him his insurance details does not mean he is claiming he liable.
Oh well. I guess that is another god knows how much down the drain .0 -
