Pre-payment elec meter costing £2 per day!! HELP!!??
Hi everyone!
Me and my partner live in a small one bed flat which has a pre-payment electricity meter which accepts £1 and £2 coins. It can cost £1-2 per day which is ridiculous!
Who do I speak to about this? It must be the landlord that empties the machine, but the electric company that sets the rate??
Help! what should we do?
Thanks

If the landlord empties it it's his meter and he sets the rates.
It's supposed to have the rate indicated on it, and I have a feeling (not sure though) there are legal limits to what he can charge.
Not sure that £1 a day is ridiculous though0 -

There are.
He's not allowed to profit from the sale of the electricity."Now to trolling as a concept. .... £365 - £730 per year for an all electric flat doesn't seem ridiculous to me, but it depends on how much you actually consume.
If you have reasonable suspicion the LL is selling at a profit, I would suggest you contact Shelter, or possibly the CAB, for further advice."Now to trolling as a concept. .... I have an all electric two bedroom flat and regularly check I am on the cheapest tariff. I am frugal with both heating and hot water, yet my direct debit has just increased from £34 to £43. I know a number of people who were using £100 per month last winter: electricity is an expensive way to heat a flat.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
