Oil fired heating help!!!!!!!!

I wonder if someone can help us out with a heating dilema, we live in quite a rural place where we have no natural gas, just lpg or oil.
My parents have just moved in opposite to us, we have oil central heating which is fantastic, they have gas lpg in a large tank supplied by Shell, they are both in there 80's so hence need the heating on quite a bit, however they have just had the tank filled to 80% 1 month ago and are now under 60% that was with the heating on timer, my dad paid £282.00 for this. which for my reckoning this is not going to last very long. can any one advise us on roughly how much it would be to change over completely to oil i.e do we have to change the rads, roughly the costs, is it best to start over again, how much work, complications, etc etc, i just need to know so my parents can decide.
Thankyou in advance.

New boiler, oil storage tank, piping .... not much change out of £10k I would estimate.
Oil boilers are expensive compared with Gas - little change out of £3k just for the boiler. Oil tank - again, start at around £1k. Both the above excludes installation, commissioning etc, hence my guess of around £10k in total.
You could always ask your oil supplier for a ball-park figure.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
It may be worth looking into heat pumps etc as both forms of energy you are using are expensive and you are held to ransom by the suppliers.0

So that works out at £70 for a month for heating and presumably cooking also? Doesn't sound too bad to me

If the oil boiler is able to be situated where the gas lpg boiler is, costs won't be that high, however if it can't be then repiping/new flue etc will add a fair bit to the costs.Norn Iron Club member No 3530
