Help re tiling

I have a tiler who is doing my bathroom. I bought the B&q wall tile adhesive and grout. On the tin it says it is enough for 8.2 sq metres. However he has used a whole tin to do one wall which is about 4 sq metres at most.
What is he doing wrong?
I had to buy some more as he has at least another 3-4sq metres to do
ALso does anyone know where I can get a border transfer for tiles.
As an afterthought I think i want a border to break up the coulour in my bathroom. am not really feeling it atm.

What makes you think he is doing anything wrong?.
Is the wall perfectly level?
Tile adesive never does what it says on the tub, the same with wallpaper paste & mpg in your car.0 -
The first thing he is doing wrong is actually using the tubbed carp you purchased! BAL or Granfix tubbed may have done the job depending on tile size, material and weight. Own brand stuff should be avoided like the plague - particularly combined addy and grout which is a no no. TBH he should have said "I'm not using that" if he is guaranteeing his work.I have a tiler who is doing my bathroom. I bought the B&q wall tile adhesive and grout. Previous poster is correct in his analysis to a certain extent but he does seem to be using a lot of it. BTW you should NEVER, EVER use tubbed addy to correct wall imperfections.I had to buy some more as he has at least another 3-4sq metres to do

my SIL used 4 tubs (for floor tiles) in his very small kitchen!
cost him more for the addy than the tiles!

As an amateur tiler, I have found over the years that I have always used about twice as much as it says on the tin, to cover a given area. Perhaps it's just me, but I suspect not.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

with you on this one, never tiled without popping out for more
adhesive. But always have grout left over .0 -
What makes you think he is doing anything wrong?because the adhesive is coming up on the sides appears he is putting too much????
Is the wall perfectly level? it is level as far as I can see have not actually checked with a spirit level to be sure as dont have one

As long as it does what it says on the tin then I dont really see the problem.
Please explain yourself to give some of us a better understanding as I am doing even more work that will need this carp as you put it.0 -
You asked what he is doing wrong. I offered an opinion which is very simple and which is that combined adhesive and grout sold by the sheds is useless rubbish irrespective of what it says on the tin. One product cannot do two different jobs and adhesive and grout have two different functions like petrol and oil..As long as it does what it says on the tin then I dont really see the problem.
Please explain yourself to give some of us a better understanding as I am doing even more work that will need this carp as you put it.
If its a DIY job and the DIYer is happy with it thats fine and on his head be it but I wouldn't expect any tiler who was a) being paid to do the job and b) expected to guarantee his workmanship to agree to use it. A tiler will normally supply adhesive and grout himself within the scope of his price. That way he can provide the correct materials appropriate for the job in hand which will have included consideration of substrate, tile material, weight of tiles, size of tiles etc etc etc.
If you don't believe me then go check out the various tiling forums.
If you tell me what work you are planning I will tell you what products I would recommend as an adhesive and also as the grout. You are free to take such recommendation or ignore it as you please.
