Unathorised debit card transaction (new car)

All,
I recently bought a new car. I went to the garage and the sales person said I had £8000 to pay which i duly did and I was given a reciept for the payment which stated reason for reciept "balance" and then signed by the sales person.
However on getting home I checked my online balance and £10,000 was taken and an answerphone message left on my phone which stated that I had "to call" them. This additional £2,000 payment was then taken from my account without my authorisation!.
What are my rights here. If the sales person has undercharged me in their eyes can they then take more money from my account without my authorisation.
Also do I have to pay the £2,000 pound anyway even though the signed reciept states reaon for reciept "balance".
Please help!

Im getting the feeling this is quite unique situation as there are no replies!0

have you called your bank to ask their advice? you should have some sort of cover. did they under charge you for the car?0
-
yes they said it is an unathorised transaction if i didnt authorise it which i didnt as i was driving around in my new car and the additional £2,000 was taken half hour after i left the dealership.
Seems like they are arguing i under paid for the car even though they doubled checked the amount I had to pay and gave me the reciept saying "balance"0 -
Did you not have more paperwork other than just the debit card receipt? Like something saying how much the car actually cost, less any trade in (if you traded in) or deposit or discount or additions even, like road tax and stuff? If you have anything like that your case would be stronger. If you knew that you had £10k to pay but they only took £8k then that might be a different story (though they are still wrong to take the money unauthorised)0

The poster has started two threads - the other one being this: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2080221&highlight=
And on both threads they refuse to state how much the actual car was suppose to cost.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
well I doubt if you can get away with not paying the proper price if it's just been an error at the time of paying the balance. I'm sure the dealer will have paperwork will full deatails. Any car I've bought I've had to sign various agreements. If the OP has signed any then the full balance would have to be paid whether there and then or later. Unauthorised transaction though still, don't know what happens with that0

OP, can you clear somthing up once and for all. Did you know what the final balance should have been and did you know they undercharged you?0

he's trying to pull a fast one. He legged it out the garage thinking "We've got the car for £8k, not £10k!!, Wooooo!!! Yey!!! Us!!!!"
Garage have realised the error and very naughtily deducted the extra £2k.
I'd be either:
onto the garage to see what the score is and trying to negotiate a deal (you ain't going to get it for £8k!)
or
onto the bank and report a fraudulant transaction of £2k!
Either way, tell us the FULL story!0 -

BUT without the unauthorised payment, have you paid the garage the agreed amount for the car in full? Or is the unauthorised payment over and above the agreed price?
Your answer is important, because it makes a huge difference to the advice.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
