Ppi refunds

Hi all

Need some advice here please. I have just received a refund from Barclay card for PPI and this has been offset against my outstanding balance which I undertsand they can do - pity.

I have a complaint lodged with First Plus and if sucessful, will I get a refund via cheque or can they offset that? I have no default on the account and need (if sucessful) the money elsewhere.

I also need to know if FP stop responding to my letters once the complaint is with the FOS. My last 2 letters have never been acknowledged despite the last one going via recorded delivery. Others sent have gone as an attachment to emails. The FOS however have acknowledged receipt.

Any help please?

Hi There.

They do not have to offset it onto your loan it is your money. Make it clear that you want the refund sent to you by cheque.

Once the complaint has gone to the FOS all further correspondence should be firstly through the FOS. Good luck

Thanks for that information. I am right in assuming what Barcalycard did was correct aren't I?

It is what they usually do. You could have asked for it to be paid straight to you seeing as they should not have charged you the PPI anyway. They will try to reduce your debt though.
