And the Yanks have the good sense to have chevron parking in most of their car parks. Why don't we do that?
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

My Husband has parallel parked, hes been around lots of roundabouts :D
He drove here for a year before we knew about the law so stopped as soon as we knew. Hes a good driver, not dangerous at all. It took him 3 blocks to get used to driving here and then we went off on holidays to Scotland the day after he got here! lol and he did the driving.
I was just wondering how many lessons because I didnt think he would need many to show hes a good driver. Though I do know some people pick up bad habits which they need to get out of first.
Thanks for all the replies. Some made me laugh. :rotfl:

So he's driven in the UK for two years, one of them without a licence.
How long is it since he's driven?

Think youve either read wrong or I wrote it wrong. He drove for the first year he was here, no more. He hasnt driven since 2007.

    Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

Must be me reading it wrong. So he drove for a year and no more, but you only found out about the law when? On day 365 of him arriving in the UK. Why didn't you sort the licence out within the first year? Call me cynical but IMO I think he drove for longer than the first year and then you fund out.

I dont see why it matters, its not what Im asking about?
Im asking how many lessons would he need from someone who may have been in this same situation or is a driving instructor themselves.

To be honest, you are asking how long is a piece of string, it will all depend on his driving ability, the best option is for him to go to an ADI ( Instructor ) and have an assessment drive.

Maybe because they all get automatic gearbox licences over there. Do we have 'automatic only' licences in the UK? If we don't maybe that's why they won't exchange directly.

Yes we do; see my earlier post!
