Get it serviced and make sure the engineer does a flue check. Sounds like all is OK but a service will put your mind at rest.0

I may add that gas fires need their flues / chimneys sweeping at least on a yearly basis.
One point that hasnt been mentioned by anyone on this thread : do you have any means of ventilation into the room where the gas fire is for correct combustion ? might be worth opening a window next time it is lit to see if that alters the combustion colour.
Good advice though to get it along with the chimney serviced, also look on line for co service spray this will test the alarm http://www.safelincs.co.uk/search.php?i=search.safelincs.co.uk&keywords=co+sprayYou may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
Many open basket or fuel effect type fires are designed to burn with a certain amount of "real" flame effect. Also, positioning of coals can have an effect on flame picture. A little yellow flicker now and again can be normal. It may need a professional opinion.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
