I know, I ought to sort out a better email account but I've been using hotmail for years and it's habit..
Over the past month or so I've been bombarded by invitations to 'upgrade' my account to hotmail plus..at a price of course!
I've even had letters through the door.
Now all of a sudden the junk filter doesn't work at all..
All the things i'd succesfully routed there are now appearing in my inbox, including 'freecycle london' which is often 400+ emails a day.
Any attempts to sort this out are met with the message 'upgrade to hotmail plus'
Have they done this deliberately as a ploy to get me to pay?
Please help, it's driving me mad..

Upgrade your hotmail account for free to windows live and hit report and delete for stuff you don't wish to receive.
I have 50 odd hotmail.co.uk and hotmail.com never received any of the stuff you've mentioned nor been pestered to upgrade.
Microsoft don't do that.
I suspect you're getting phishing emails, a freind of mine received one 6 months ago, when checked had zilch to do with microsoft.
There is also other ones stating that pay £10 or $10 or MSN will shut down and you won't have hotmail anymore, with mention of sending this to all those on your address book etc.
I have had hotmail since around 96 when before it was aquired by Microsoft for $400,000,000 (dam I wish I had created hotmail) and if I do receive spam it's bounced or filtered via mailwasher pro.

There is a new beta sign up for 2gb inbox.

Hotmail is horrible. Gmail is really good, and very fast. It's invite only though, so send me your email address as a pm and I'll send you an invite if you want an account:)0

I have one hotmail I use regulary, and 4 or 5 other hotmails, none of mine are inundated with spam, I get the odd msn email newsletter about one per month. I get very few real spam mails, I did get 1 today from ATVconnection.com they had the audacity to say I joined their website forum, so I went there and asked for my username and passwords, cheeky barstewards sent me one, a user name that no way on Earth would I have chosen "atvaaron" So I suppose I'm going to have to send them a removal request!0
