New additions to toolbar?

Hi everyone, I wonder if anyone can help with this one. I have had a couple of icons mysteriously appear on my toolbar. I tried running an ewido malware scan but the icons are not budging. I've gone into add/remove programs and nothing appears to have found its' way on board any suggestions ?Thankyou shrewdal

i take it your talking about your standard toolbar (aka taskbar, with the start menu on it?)

what does it say when you hover over the icon- usually it tells you what function it performs

if you hover over it, then right click and hit properties - it'll tell you what it is and where it is stored on your PC

note these details, post them up here and we'll take a look.

Hi villagelife thanks for your reply I have managed to successfully remove the icons however my Mcafee virus scan has quarantined some dialler that couldn't be deleted what happens now? ,how do I remove it after quarantining it ? thanks shrewdal

since they are quarantined it'll probably purge them after some time - perhaps 90 days or so

i wouldnt worry about it - as long as you do another scan and it comes up clear, then you should be fine! - i'd recommend you re-start your PC and then do the scan just incase it re-appears when you re-boot the PC
