Me &new TV again

I was determined to buy my new TV today especially after being educated on here re HD. Am I right in thinking the following animal does not exist? Max 22", HD 1080, able to play prerecorded DVDs and with Freeview?

I doubt youll find one with 1080P AND plays dvds
My advice is forget about playing dvds as the quality of tvs with built in dvds tend to be cr*p
I also wouldnt bother whatsoever if the screen was 1080 or 768 as your almost certain not to be able to tell any difference on a screen that small

    Jake'sGran,

With respect, there's little point in having 1080p on a 22" screen.

But LG sells a 22" to that spec.

You'd be far better off with a 24" Samsung, though, if you can accommodate it.

you'd now be better off living in one.

I was embarrassed after I posted as I had received so much help already. On the TV forum they too said the same especially as I will be buying a DVD recorder afterwards. So, I know where I 'm at now and will go buy my 22" TV. It's possible that if I can get one in white I can go to a bigger size e.g. 26" without it looking stark in a white bedroom.

Why do you need one with an integral DVD player when you are buying a DVD recorder anyway? It just limits you to cheap and nasty supermarket brands.
As pointed out by several people in your other post, you do not need Full HD on a 22in screen, it is pointless and a waste of money, as the extra cost is £15-£200. All you need is HD Ready.

Never be embarrassed to ask here. You always do so with such charm and courtesy that it's a pleasure to help you.

Sony makes a beautiful 26" television in white that you'd absolutely love :heartpuls . But it's expensive. :(

Their black one, if you could live with that, is much cheaper – say, £346 with free delivery. Well equipped: 3 HDMIs, 2 SCARTs, 1 USB and a magnificent picture.

If I find a white one cheaper, I'll post it here for you. ;)

That is really nice of you Leopard especially after the horrible week I've had. Sony has a great reputation and this is being typed on a VA10 but since I got the separate mouse it's difficult to make sure I am in the right position for the next sentence. In my rather small bedroom 26" really is too big. There are some at 24" so I went off with my tape measure and found that too would look silly.

I think I will settle for the 22" JL own make - I asked who made them but they did not reply. It does have a 5 yr guarantee though. Methinks I do try too hard when all I want is a TV with Freeview and later, a DVD recorder. Have a great week, Di

I don't agree with Leopard on many things, but I agree with the post just made. Never feel shy about asking anything :)

I hope you find the perfect TV for what you want.

You have my deepest sympathy, robt: it must be terrible for you to be wrong about so many things. :D

Jl's tvs are made by Avtex, who also manufacture Linsar Tvs.

Avtex's own sets are ok, but are aimed more at the caravan/boating market and run off a 12V power supply and are pretty expensive.

The JL tvs aren't too bad, but I don't understand why they've made them with ridiculously spaced mounting holes in the back. The viewing angle isn't spectacular, but the auto tune button is a nice touch, should you not feel comfortable delving about in menus.
