Parking Charge Notice!!

I received a letter from a private parking company, in Stockport, stating that i had parked on private land, and they have issued me with a ticket to the tune of £95. The pay and display bays were all taken, double yellows everywhere else. I parked up, there were signs visable, and as i found out after a attendent (not in uniform) was watching me. I ran across a road to a building i was going to be working in to see if there was any onsite parking. turns out there wasnt. came back to my van and left. My van has a tracker on it. I was parked for less than 2 mins. The attendent took photos of my van as i was crossing the road, and crouching behind a car, on my return, i noticed him as i was driving off.
Do i have any come back on this matter, as i intend on appealling this ticket, any suggetions gratefully received.

Please read all the previous postings on the forum. Do not appeal, do not contact them and ignore all correspondence from them. They are a private company and cannot demand any money from them.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

That goes for me too. Just completely ignore them, they will demand, threat,
jump up and down, threaten you with court, but just put the letters in a drawer and smile as you shut it.
They cannot do a thing about it.

In any event, only the driver would be the ones who had to answer to it (if it was enforceable) and your not obliged to tell them who the driver is.
    So relax

Please don't waste your time appealing, this is a private company and they only say they have an appeals process so it makes their fake parking tickets look more legitimate. All 'appeals' are refused by PPCs.

You have not parked illegally, you have not committed any parking offence. You will not be taken to Court, your credit record will be completely unaffected, you will not get a CCJ and they cannot send the Bailiffs round nor clamp you.

These Private Parking companies are chancers and their tickets and letters are a scam trying to scare you into paying them some money.

Read about other cases on this view of the whole parking board (read those where a private parking company is involved, not the Council). You'll soon see a pattern to the replies:

HTH, now forget about it and just file any scam letters they send you.

P.S. Just one thought, is your van a company van or on a lease?
The scam letters will be sent to the registered keeper and if that isn't you then this can be difficult. Some fleet/lease managers will just pay any ticket (even scam ones) and then charge you under the contract terms. If this applies to you, you will have to contact the keeper in writing asap and insist that the ticket is a scam and you dispute it and as the driver you take full responsibility. Expressly ask them NOT to pay it.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    Question.

See this time and time again, regarding not to pay, and yes the word is getting out.
So why are these private areas not full of vehicles? What is stopping you parking on private land if they do not have any right to charge you?
Car parks should be empty...private land should be full.
  • Thanks for the reply, the van is a company van with logos, my bosses received the PCN and are in a bit of flap about it.

Tell them to have a look at the PePipoo website regarding these chancers.

I suspected as much when you mentioned in op that it has a tracker fitted, it is important for you to encourage your employers if you have a good relationship with them to read pepipoo and this forum, otherwise as there is no cost to them they may just pay up and recover from you.

Well unless you can convince them that it is just a demand for money for a non existent contract and subsequent loss through breach your stuffed, because they will bombard your employer with legal looking documents, the only alternative for you is to speak with your employer and get them to identify you as the driver, they cannot continue to harass your employer if they do this, they must now harass you instead, which indeed they will, the added ingredient of a third party as the vehicle owner puts you on the spot as the owners resolve to dispute this is not going to be as strong as your own, often the employer simply pays up and deducts from employee. I would definately recommend you visit pepipoo and get some specific advice as to how others in your position deal with the issue.

If you have your own personal vehicle then you can always seek a little revenge by regularly parking there in the future and of course ignoring any demands.
