I cant really say about those in hospital - but prisoners are allowed out in various situations if they are approaching release, its to get them used to the world again, getting on a bus, buying a paper etc that kind of thing.

Lifers approaching release can get escorted visits, then town visits (which are for the day) then weekend home stays either at there address or hostel or wherever they are goung to live.

I'm sick and fed up hearing about criminals getting the soft treatment. Lock them up with just bread and water (if their lucky) and throw away the key!! This system is way to soft on prison sentences and prisons are again way to lax. What about the flipping victims????
