Same here. I got the oriental knives (offer code from a Somerfield magazine) and they are absolutely brilliant. Obviously you need to sharpen them first (I think they're not allowed to sell them already fully sharpened, but I may be wrong). And I always run them across a steel a couple of times before using them. Jointing a chicken has never been easier.tawnyowls wrote:I got the 3 oriental knives nearly a year ago - seem fine to me. Have kept their edge, and I've been bunging them in the dishwasher every time I've used them (nothing on them to say you couldn't, and I'm blowed if I'm washing up by hand!); no problems with rust for me.0

People often say to buy expensive knives but my main set is over 7 years old and cost me £10 at one of those book/bric-a-brack sales that people do at work. They get lots of use as we cook 99% of main meals from fresh ingredients and they are going strong. They have heavy blades and keep a sharp edge. I've easily got my money's worth from them and would just buy another set if I needed to. Seen similar sets for £5 these days. Brand is Koch Messer.0
