Network Printer only does the First Page?

I have a USB printer connected to one machine which prints fine (Word, Excel PDFs etc.) I have enabled network sharing for printing.

When printing a large document from another machine onto the network printer it only prints the first page, or duplicates of the first page or first page and then blank pages.

I have noticed this a lot of Windows XP Pro on both Canon and HP printers. Other machines work fine.

Is it a case of re-installing the printer drivers on that networked machine that doesnt print well?

    Hi

That is an odd one, and certainly HP and Canon have some very complex printers and drivers that might cause this issue.

Firstly, try to find updated drivers for the printer on the manufacturers website. Make sure they are installed on both the local and remote computers.

Secondly, is the computer that is sharing the printer well specified? Sometimes the sharing computer can get overloaded with relatively small print jobs and just stop working. This was more an issue in the 95/98 days, but worth checking.

Thirdly, and possibly complete overkill, but a network sharing device such as the Belkin Print Server (check for printer compatibility before purchasing), may be a good idea, and it means you dont have to leave the print sharing computer on all of the time.

We have an all singing, all dancing fax - photocopy - printer and it has the latest "generic drivers" installed. Yes generic

All our PC's and laptops have problems with printing and it is all because of the generic drivers installed.
When specific drivers are loaded on the servers it caused all manner of problems so they took them off and just use generic drivers.

Could this be the same with your printer???
