Why can't you charge your normal price and declare it?
You won't lose more than if you just asked for £5! You will keep your £80 they will reduce your benefit, you will still keep your 80 +5.
When you next sign on tell them you have done part time work. Until you sign declaring you have not worked for a period where you have worked you have not committed an offense.

Why dont you just get someone who you are very close to to become your 'manager',
and so they are the 1 who is paid the £80 and in return provide a dj (you) to the club.

They can choose to only then pay you £5 of that £80 of they want,
and can keep the £75 for themself legally.

And you can also legally keep claiming the full £50 pw jsa. :)

    Nothing illegal been done there.

Oh for gods sake, are you Angel in disguise?

I am trying hard NOT to respond to the troll, but I can't stop myself.

So, each point in turn, just in case the OP considers your "advice".
Why dont you just get someone who you are very close to to become your 'manager',

Because that "manager" is receiving money. So if he/she is on benefits this will need to be declared.

If they are not on benefits they will need to declare the income and register as a "manager of DJ set".
so they are the 1 who is paid the £80 and in return provide a dj (you) to the club.

What happens to the £80? Deducted from benefits or declared as earnings as tax?

It also puts the pub on a stickey wicket.

    You are a troll.

I have reported you to MSE abuse (again) and will also fill in HRMC fraud form with this URL with regard to your "cash in hand" antics handing out flyers.

OP, don't listen to this troll.

Can others please rec the post if you agree or post a comment supporting.

    Thanks

Have fun wasting your own time. :D

Took about 20 seconds. Be amazed what they can get from a IP address.

Should you not be out clubbing?

    LOL

Ip address's dont actually count for anything, are different everytime you use the internet depending on the type of connection/proxy you use,
and so are just basically worthless.

(if you wanted my ip that bad just shouldve just asked and id have actually told ya it). :rotfl:

And nope not going tonight as have already been 3x this week, and especially after wasting about £60 lastnight i cant afford to go again this weekend. :(

So gna wait till tuesday or thursday for the clubbing student nights,
and catchup on all the eastenders n hollyoaks episodes ive missed during week online tonight instead. :o;)

And the fact it's impossible to get an ip address from a forum won't help.

  • And you also haven't specified exactly what is ILLEGAL about someone who doesnt claim benefits being a 'dj music systems agent'

There's nothing illegal about it, provided that 'manager' declares this extra income for tax/NI purposes.

Your original post seemed to imply that the OP should get somebody to front as his manager, take the £80, and pass it to him later (in cold, hard, undeclared cash), making the transaction doubly illegal.

I used to work with a girl who ran her own 'business' on eBay, and made quite a lot of money (£100+ pw). She seemed to think that because she paid tax and NI on her 9-5, 40hpw job, she was above reproach when it came to earning extra money cash in hand. She ended up under investigation from the Inland Revenue - suffice to say it wasn't a very pleasant time for her.

She still trades...above board these days.
    £1 / 50p 2011 holiday flight + hotel expenses = £98.50600

HSBC 8% 12mth regular savings = £80 out of a maximum remaining allowance of £2500

    "3 months' salary" reserve = £00 / £3600

You really think you are anonymous and can't be traced by your postings on here if someone in authority wanted to trace to your ISP (its a vBulletin board after all!).

I was not suggesting I have access for the record.

    And Angel, you are troll.

Your actions and advice will eventually catch up with you.

  • I don't think that this discussion about the 'dj music systems agent' and having a go at BootyBabe (although I don't agree with her idea anyway) is helping the guy who posted the original thread.

The most useful post was the one which mentioned about "expenses" as these can be deducted from the £80 or any other payments you receive. These are a totally legal way of reducing the income and is totally accepted by the JSA people on high. So you can also deduct the costs of travel any direct costs of the business i.e. the business cards any posters, leaflets and the reasonable costs of any agent who gets any work for you (who then declares this payment themselves). As mentioned earlier capital payments i.e. cost of the decks etc can not be deducted and nor can the loan payments (as it was mentioned a loan was taken out) but the interest on the loan is a valid expense.

To answer an earlier post you can claim JSA and be self employed as I have done this myself. Of course you CAN NOT work more than 16 hours a week. As your earnings will be less than the amount at which you have to pay NI on your earnings you just have to register as self employed and fill in the "small earnings" exemption leaflet so not pay any NI (I would post the HMRC website here but not allowed to post links yet).

I used to get the DSS to review my case monthly by providing a monthly statement (they might ask for weekly to start with) showing earnings and expenses and don't forget to get receipts for all the payments you make as part of your business. If you went on the businesslink courses they should have given you advice on this matter as I went on these courses and found them very useful.

So as you can see this £80 will soon whittle its way down to a lower figure that they take into account. If say you only do 2 gigs a month to start with at £80 = £160 and that the costs involved were say £40 the net amount would be £120. Which on average over 4 weeks the net amount is £30. You are allowed to earn £5 per week (so x2 or x4 not sure which they will tell you) and they will therefore pay you the difference. So if they only allow 2x £5 then £10 is taken off so the amount to take into account is £110. If you are due to JSA of £50 per week that is £200 over 4 weeks. You have according to them already received £110 so they pay you the difference £90 over the 4 weeks. This would average out at £22.50 per week. As I mentioned they may do this weekly to start with. So in week 1 you would get no JSA probably but in week 2 if you had no gigs then you would get the full £50.

I hope this helps and another thing to mention is are you not entitled to the bonus being offered to those being out of work over 6 months? This is for those going self employed and coming off the dole. You get £50 per week and it is tax and benefit free and goes on for 16 weeks. Of course you need to be having more gigs but hopefully if you are a success this will happen over time. Ask your JSA Adviser about this option and how you go about it.
