restructure at work, they are interviewing right up to the 19th, decisions on redundancies will then be made and you can appeal from 20th to the 24th (which 2 days of are over the weekend!!) - the last day of service for thise made redundant is the 27th!! surely this is not enough notice?? i think its less than 10 ppl to be made redundant but neverhteless i thought it was at least 28 days notice!!

Unfortunately you are wrong. Where there are less than 20 redundancies there is no minimum time for consultation. The only requirement is that there is meaningful consultation.

hi, that's right about the consultation period, but isn't the notice period different? i thought that the statutory minimum notice for redundancy was 1 week per year of service up to maximum of 13 weeks?

I think two things are being muddled here .....

Notice of redundancy is only issued once the consultation process is concluded and those to be redundant have been selected.

You don't issue notice of redundancy at the beginning of the consultation process - only at the end.
