What size Remoska?

My husband is going to Poland next week on a business trip and is going to (try to) buy a Remoska as it will be much cheaper there :j
I don't know whether he should get the standard 2 litre or the 'grand' 4 litre version ....
we are two adults and two small children and the biggest thing I would like to be able to do is a small roast chicken in the Remoska.
Do you think the 2 litre would be a sufficient size for us or should I go for the 4 litre which will cost more in electricity:confused:
Thanks for your help
Norman

  • I have the biggest one & there are only 2 of us, I find I can get shepherds pie in there in a dish & the veg in another dish.

Never let success go to your head, never let failure go to your heart.
  • Thanks Hester....so you can put actual dishes inside? that's interesting I just assumed everything had to be cooked straight in the pan.
If there are just two of you I think I might get H to get the large one .... very excited

  • Hi - we often make a shepherds pie in the Grande -cook the onions and mince in it and then transfer that to a Pyrex dish - top with mashed spuds and then cook it in the Remoska -so much cheaper than putting the oven on. Had my Remoska for 18 months now (didn't have a cooker for 6 months as had no kitchen) - use it every day. Cook pizza/sausages on the rack, curries/fish and chips/jacket spuds in it. Even cooked Xmas dinner for 3 in it last year. Cooked the beef in tin foil with roast spuds round it. Then, when they were done, cooked the Yorkshire pud in it - just put the batter straight in thepan - came up really well.
Would not want to be without it now - only gripe is that when you cook say a soup or something that has a lot of liquid, sometimes trips the electrics - from what I gather is quite a common problem.
  • we are a family of 4 and i find the standard size ok for us...i dont think u could fit 2 dishes in it thought but i think a small chicken would be ok....i suppose it depends what u want to cook and how hungry everyone is...hth

i find mine is tripping the electricity...i find it if i quickly turn it off at the wall instead of flicking the switch on the remouska

  • Thanks Tessie and BOGOF ..... just had a measure up and the standard seems an ok size and the grande does seems massive but I guess it would be good to have the versatility of the grande .... what to do? it's at times like this that I hate being an indesisive (sp?) libran!!!!

  • Definately the grand,we are a family of 4 and have the grand, plus you can always invest in a 2nd shallow pan(i think 2Litre pan if you have the grand, that gives you best of both.)
I dont think the electricity would be too much of a difference,

This might be a dumb question, but are the plugs that come with the Remoska made in Poland, suitable for UK use? I don't know anything about these things, nor about the Remoska really, but it just occurred to me and i thought i would mention it.

  • I have both sizes and I use the large one more often. Hope this helps - there are four of us.
When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!
  • If buying a Remoska in the UK, it comes fitted with a standard plug for use in the UK - not sure what you would get if bought abroad - I would assume it would be fitted with a plug for use in the country it was purchased.
