Hi,
I'm looking for a laptop for my dad for around £400 or less & have come up with these so far.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dell-Inspiron-1300-Laptop-1-6MHZ-FREE-DELIVERY-512DDR_W0QQitemZ8815053260QQcategoryZ177QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/inspn_1300?c=uk&cs=ukepp1&l=en&s=dhs
Anyone know if these are any good (for the money) & if I should be looking somewhere else as well. I'm quite happy with a dell as we use them at work, the one on ebay works out about the same price as dircet from dell but comes with double the memory & the 1 year warrenty.
Let mw know what you think,
cheers,
worto.

I would always go for the one with Dell direct instead of some Ebay seller with a double warranty.
Better Customer service, good returns policy and less hassles should something go wrong.
I agree that this seller has ?lots of feedback, but for an extra warranty year, not worth it!!
I say this because should something go wrong and you want to claim on the warranty, thats when you get crap!0 -
Hello worto03
I'll move your thread over to the 'Techie Stuff' board, where it should get more views and responses.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

Tesco have an Acer Travelmate for just under £4000 -
Hi,
Thanks for the replies, I lost this thread & the subscription thing doesn't seem to work very well for me.
Anyway I've been looking at the sticky at the top but I'm not really sure about Acer & other makes that I havn't used before?
I have used Toshiba & Dell's at work so know they ahve a decent build. some laptops feel really cheap & tend to fall apart. I know you kind of get what you pay for but I'm really after the lowest end or older model but decent make laptop.
Maybe I'm wrong, are the Acer laptops any good when compared to Dell's & Toshibas?
Cheers,
