I also wonder how many of their houses are tenantless at the moment. I wouldn't want to live somewhere where I knew the LL would take me to court for minor damage to a toilet seat.

I agree and it's not like Ashford is some Pacific Island - you can easily live down the road where you don't have to rent from the Wilsons.

    A rye smile?

Would that be the kind of grin you get in Sussex or just through eating too much crispbread?
  • greed and market saturation- simples

if the market was as predictable as they thought it was then thats one thing, but this isnt a question on a maths exam paper this is real life, a real place and real peoples homes

house prices go down as well as up, and sorry but cheques in the post doesnt wash with me.
177 mortgages? oh thats fine mr wilson just drop 177 cheques a month in the post, quick bit of maths (sorry) means with a debt so far of £350k means each property is responsible for on average £2k arrears.

and thats just the ones with mortgage express
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

I trust BH even if he's from Manchester.. ;)

'The cheque's in the post'. lol. With all his dosh you would think he would be able to put all the cheques in one envelope and get a minion to bob round the BS with them.

They made money from the unprecedented HP boom, now they are losing out in the recession. That's investments for you. And if they hadn't been so greedy, arrogant and self-congratulatory about it, people wouldn't be laughing at them now. It's not like a factory closing - I doubt they employ more than a few people. As long as we don't end up bailing them out, I don't care if they go under. Mrs F may yet discover the joys of Primani.

    What a lovely thread.

Anyone for a rousing round of "Karma Chameleon"?

    Lipstick optional. :)

PS And the moral is...if you have to go into BTL, don't assume that prices will always rise, and treat your tenants (AKA customers) fairly, or you won't be in business long.

What a satisfying end to a traditional fairy story. Proper baddies to frighten small children with. :)

Plus Mrs W will look a lot better in Primark than the expensve tat she wears.

    Frankly, Primark is way classier.
  • It's hard to believe that this couple once taught maths to our children. Did they not understand 'risk'?

They could survive but only if they employ someone who knows how to manage a property empire. I guess they have enjoyed their time as wealthy entrepeneurs and I fear they may be facing a relatively poor retirement. No doubt there will be plenty of cash hidden away from the Receivers.
