Hayabusa or ZX12R?

I'd pinned my hopes on a Super Blackbird but was told that compared to a Hayabusa, it would be better not to.
But what about a choice between a Hayabusa and a ZX12R? Anyone any experience of both?

I love the look of the ZX12, the 'busa just looks too cramped for me, but then it depends what you want the bike for.
  • Everyone I work with thought the busa was ugly in pictures but in the flesh it's a really nice bike. It wasnt as comfortable as my first bike (cbr1000f) but the performance was out of this world.
Someone thats tried both the hayabusa and the blackbird said go hayabusa, but I REALLY like the look of the zx.

The performance of any of those bikes should be enough to satisfy anyone, the handling is not but if you choose a bike just because you like the look of it ........ and you like a busa? Well there really is no hope for you.

You could try asking this at www.therevcounter.com

Lots of great advice there. It is free too.
  • Cheers for all the info. Edging towards the Kawasaki already though. Thinking i've had a busa so try something else.
  • Heard somewhere that Hayabusa is Japanese for a bird that eats Blackbirds

    Indeed.
Hayabusa is Japanese for Peregrine Falcon.

Have you thought about sports-tourers instead of all-out sports bikes? If you like the Kawasaki then I'd encourage you to take a look at the 1400GTR, which has similar rocket ship performance but a more practical shaft drive. It's certainly one of the best sports tourers I have ever ridden. I'd also encourage you to think slightly differently and get a test ride on a BMW K1300S (or K1200S if money is an issue). As for naked bikes, the K1200R/K1300R is the most fun you can have in bike leathers.
  • Budget will probably run to about 4k. Bike will be quite older but may go more for a good un.
