Current account

Hi All
I am hoping someone can help. We have had adverse credit in the past CCJs (All satisfied) about 4 years old now...two more years to go!! We have just managed to get back onto the high street (abbey) for our mortgage after years of paying over the odds. (Yipee!!)
I am now trying to find a current account in order to get away from the Halifax (going to try and reclaim bank charges ... another story) but would like to get another account before doing so.
Is there any bank that I can go to that will give me a current account. I have sent off for packs from A&L and First Direct.
Help please I have got to get away from the Halifax, they are dreadful and I am sick of paying for mistakes years ago!!!

You won't get one with First Direct, i'm in a similar (minus mortgage) situation to yourself and tried First Direct with no joy.
A&L is a no go too. Their Premier Direct/Premier accounts require no CCJ's or Defaults.
See my post in this same forum, i'm struggling to find a good current account and need a new standby one should the bank I am with now close my account after/if I successfully claim back charges.0 -
As you've managed to get your mortgage with the Abbey, why not swap your current account there as well?
Just a thought!Andy Corbett0 -
