My husband has worked as a nurse for a private health care trust for nearly 9 years. Today he had a phone call saying the company is going into administration and closing down. Where do we stand with redundancy pay? either from the company or from the government? He has about 2 more weeks work and thats it.Also I work at a school 15 hours a week what benefits would we be entitled to please? would it be income support? we have no ideas on any of this and we were not expecting it! it has blown us away. Thanks for any help you would like to give.

Your husband should contact the administrators. They should provide all employees with the contact and/or documents to allow him to claim redundancy pay.
Redundancy pay will be based on 8 years as only completed years of service count. If he earns more than £380 per week he will receive that x 8 ie 1 week for each year of service. If between the ages of 20 and 41. Any completed years of service over 41 will mean the payment is x 1.5. Anything under that will be x .5.0
