Thankyou, I'm starting to feel more like its best option day by day.

It is. You have all your life ahead of you and this has come early enough to be considered a blip. All the best.

It depends on your OR and your surplus income-but I had surplus under £100 so I wouldn't really know about contributions etc. I saw your SOA at the beginning, I saw you had some advice-follow the advice given and you will be fine.

    :)
  • How much is it to go bankrupt? Is it £500. i get paid in the middle of January so I am going to see if i can arrange my court date for after then. Also do i need to open one of these co op accounts before or after BR? Do they freeze your account on the day of the court date or before?

    It's £510 cash.

You can open either a co op cashminder or a barclays basic-both have pros and cons, it is best you decide which is best for you.

You can open it now if you wish and have your wages paid into that-the OR will not freeze this account. Your other accounts will not be frozen immediately. The OR will need to inform the banks of your BR so it may take a couple of days, even weeks. You should not use your old accounts though, and withdraw any cash (credit) from them before your BR date.

It has to be a co op as I have a £4000 debt with barclays, I will apply to open this now and see about changing my wages from January. Do you get a card which you can shop online with?

Thankyou Kerrypn, your been extremely helpful. x

Hi thanks for the info, I will look through it. Will I def get my BR extended then? I can understand why though, just would like to think I could look to get a mortage before 30.

The council tax has the 25% discount but i am in arrears with them and this is the lowest amount they will acept and if i dont adhere to it they wil go for detachment of earnings. This will go into your BR. So once you are declared BR you should stop paying it. So put this down on the forms as it would be with out the arrears.

The water rates is due to arrears as I simply cant afford to pay all my bills every month, everymonth something has to give. This will go in also so stop paying the arrears and just put down what it should be.

I havent put clothing in there as i didnt know if they would accept, even though it is essential.

Thankyou for the advice on the petrol, I wil start saving receipts this week, this is how much it costs me to get to work and back.

If you redo your SoA with the changes and pop it up again so we can have a final check.

    No probs.

I have heard people say they had debt with barclays and opened a barclays one no probs. Co op one apparently does not offer online shopping-barclays does. Do what is best for you and best of luck.

Kerry, it Co-op offer on line banking and Barclays don't :)
